Love Handles, who needs them?

Love Handles. Love ‘em or hate ‘em the truth is that, if you have more than you want, they can be very hard to shift without a lot of help.

The first thing is that genetics makes the most difference. Therefore those who already have a nice slim figure rarely have to work too hard to keep it. The next less palatable truth is that it does matter what you eat, and how much exercise you do.

So to move on from last months discussion what other ways are there for targeting fat removal without recourse to surgery.

Well certainly don’t be persuaded to buy any of those things off QVC which promise to give you washboard abs in only 5 minutes per day. No amount of exercise can target where the weight comes off. Which leaves five clinic based options to choose from in the non surgical field.

Lipodissolve, Velasmooth, Ultrashape,Smart Lipo/VASER, Thermage.

Lipodissolve. Otherwise known as the Flab Jab or Lipo Melt Phosphotidyl Choline injections can target fat loss from small localised areas. It is reasonably invasive with some bruising , swelling and discomfort but it is relatively cheap and effective. You usually need three or four treatments. Best for knees, inner thighs, lower abdo and love handles, but only really for small amounts of fat.

Velasmooth. Best know as a cellulite treatment this does have some degree of fat targeting in a non invasive and relatively bruise free treatment. The down side is that you need several, usually a course of ten is recommended and so the cost adds up and maintenance is often required.

Ultrashape. Totally non invasive this is one of several external ultrasound applications designed to target fat loss. This certainly is the most effective non invasive ultrasound treatment but I think it is comparatively expensive for the result you achieve. I have since stopped offering Ultrashape at my clinic.

Smart Lipo/VASER Liposelection. These new updated versions of liposuction are significantly less traumatic with a much reduced down time. Having done Smart Lipo over the last two years and VASER more recently I have come to believe that the VASER procedure is more effective and removes more fat whilst being at least as un-traumatic as Smart Lipo if not better. They are both reasonably priced treatments with a good compromise between invasiveness and efficacy.

Thermage. This is the most expensive of the offerings but only by a small margin. It is once again totally non-invasive but you have to be a little patient as the final results can take six months to appear. Thermage uses radio-frequency energy to heat you skin and subcutaneous fat to tighten your skin and alter contours. Thermage has the advantage of usually only needing a single treatment compared to the other similarly non invasive techniques.

So in summary love handles can be fixed but it is often uncomfortable and unfortunately never free. Unless of course you are blessed with the right metabolism and diet and exercise alone does it for you. If we could work out how you do it and bottle it??…..

Between me and my girlfriends we’ve tried more ways over the years than I can count to maintain healthy skin, including high intensity exercises for sweating, organic foods, different hours of sleep, etc. But, in the most recent months years I’ve pinned it down to just good natural creams and healthy diet. Why? Because I was happy to discover how effective the results were.

liposuction is right for you, and discuss your alternative options. Most procedures are done with some form of sedation, which may be oral or intravenous. The amount of recovery time is based on the amount of fat removed. In a small area, like arm or neck liposuction, there is very little discomfort, and essentially no recovery period. For their own health, please cherish life.

  19. Most people have this wrong perception that in order to get 6 pack abs, they will just need to strengthen their abdominal muscles. Well, I would say that they are only 50% right. The fact is, in order to exhibit the 6 pack abs, you will have to first strip away that irritating abdominal fats that is covering your abdominal muscles. Only after you have stripped away that irritating abdominal fats then can u start the process of strengthening your abdominal muscles, and losing the abdominal fats is what the abs machines have failed to achieve.
