Patients who want a body-sculpting treatment but do not want to undergo invasive cosmetic surgery could benefit from SmoothLipo, it has been claimed.
The technology produces consistently smooth, tight results, treating local deposits of fat and helping to contour the body.
The device uses an advanced form of laser lipolysis, which employs thermal energy to break down fat cells and tighten the skin.
Dr Cheryl Karcher, a dermatologist who specialises in fat reduction techniques, commented: "The SmoothLipo device is a significant advance in the field of body contouring as it helps patients achieve localised fat reduction as well as optimum skin tightening.
"I also like the decreased patient risk profile of the treatment compared to earlier laser lipolysis options," she continued. "This laser is continuous wave, which means there is less chance of the patient experiencing thermal injuries."
Launched by Eleme Medical, SmoothLipo provides a less invasive alternative to traditional liposuction and can produce more benefits than liposuction alone.
It is not designed to treat cellulite, although it can be used alongside cellulite reduction techniques to enhance the results.
