New figures have revealed that the north-west is the region of the UK with the most boob jobs and breast augmentations, with Manchester having a particularly high number of ops.

Statistics published by SurgiCare show that women in Manchester have had 87 per cent more boob jobs than London women.

After Manchester, the next highest percentage of boob jobs have been performed in Bolton, Warrington and Wigan, with Yorkshire and the north-east also having large numbers of operations.

In fact, there is an overall north-south divide, with 284 per cent more northern women having enquired about the possibility of having breast enlargement surgery than those in the south of the country.

Meanwhile, Scotland and the Isle of Wight have very few women choosing to have their breasts enhanced, the figures show.

The company also revealed that there has been an overall increase in demand for breast ops, despite the credit crunch placing a strain on the nation's finances.

The latest figures follow statistics published in October, which revealed that there has been a 135 per cent increase in UK women boosting their cup size.
