Men both gay and straight turn to cosmetic surgery to stay looking great

The TV show Queer Eye for a Straight Guy underlined the perception that gay men take more pride and care in their appearance.

But a recent report in the Independent on Sunday would suggest that straight men may be taking more of an interest in self-beautification than ever before, with the Harley Medical group seeing a 20 per cent increase in male patients over the past five years.

That said - a study carried out by Gay Times found that more than one in five (22 per cent) gay men have had some form of cosmetic surgery.

Furthermore, seven in ten (69 per cent) expressed an interest in having some in future.

"Initially, men started coming in for nose jobs to correct sporting injuries, but the number of men coming in for liposuction and breast reduction has increased at an incredible rate over the last five years," Harley Medical Group director Liz Dale told the paper.

"We are still seeing high demand for many of our non-surgical treatments among men, particularly in our City clinic.

"City boys are using Botox and 'fillers' to help them keep looking young."
